Start With the Room That Is Bothering You Most

A few photos and a couple of sentences is enough. You will get an honest read on what the work involves, a realistic budget range, and a straight answer about whether it is even the right project to start with.

What Happens After You Hit Send

No automated sequence, no sales call from somebody who has never held a level. Here is the actual sequence, and it usually takes less than a week from your message to a useful answer.

01

I read what you sent

Photos and a short description tell me more than a phone call does. I look for the things you did not mention.

02

You get a real reply

A written response covering what the work likely involves, a budget range, and any questions I need answered.

03

We decide together what is next

A walkthrough, a bid review, a full project, or sometimes nothing at all. Not every idea deserves to be a project yet, and I will tell you when that is the case.

Things Worth Saying Before We Talk

A little honesty up front saves everybody time, so here is where I stand before you send anything.

  • I will tell you if your budget and your wish list are not going to meet. That conversation is uncomfortable exactly once.
  • I will tell you when a project is not worth doing, or when the money would do more good somewhere else in the house.
  • I do not take referral fees from contractors or suppliers, because the moment money flows that way my opinion stops being worth anything to you.
  • I will not quote a number for a space nobody has looked at, no matter how much easier that would make the first conversation.

If that sounds like the kind of working relationship you want, we will get along fine.
